William Edward "Ed" Day, 87, died at his residence on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Mr. Day was born October 7, 1934, in the Cornersville Community, the son of Otis and Estella Hudson Day. He made his home in Memphis until his retirement, and was a production foreman at Sonoco. Mr. Ed was also a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of First Baptist Church of Hickory Flat. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching westerns. His grandson Rich, said that Mr. Day was the backbone of his family, and that he was a great mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Day, of Hickory Flat; one daughter, Tammie Day Bryant and husband, Kenneth, of Cordova, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jeremy Kashif, Richard Guthrie, Justin Bryant, and Shelby Campbell; five great-grandchildren, Mather Thompson, Richie Guthrie, Maverick Guthrie, Everest Guthrie, and Phoenix Guthrie; two brothers, Otis Day and Jerry Harris; and three sisters, Brenda Phillips ,Shirly Stewart, and Geneva Riggs. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Campbell and a grand daughter, Jewell Guthrie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 2:00 P. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home, with Brother Cory Lancaster, officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Kashif, Richard Guthrie, Justin Bryant, Mather Thompson, Richie Guthrie, and his son-in-law, Kenneth Bryant. Visitation will be held from noon on Saturday until service time.
