Peggy Joyce Mathis

Peggy Joyce Mathis, 84, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born in Myrtle on April 20, 1937, the daughter of Quitman and Edith Eloise Duncan Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a Baptist and had been a social worker with Experience Works. Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Jack Mathis, Sr. of New Albany; two sons, Jack Mathis, Jr., of New Albany and James Barry Mathis also of New Albany; one brother, John Thomas of Arkansas; and one sister, Edith Thomas Dees, of Myrtle; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Travis, Carrol, Hugh, Lee, and Bill Thomas; and one sister, Ima Jean Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 2:00 P. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home, with her nephew, Steve Thomas, officiating. Burial will follow in New Albany City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 A. M. until service time at the funeral home.
