Obituary

Niles William Conklin Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born on January 30, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late James Conklin and Charlotte Conklin.

Niles was a proud veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, skilled craftsmanship, and willingness to lend a helping hand. A talented carpenter and handyman, he could build, repair, and fix just about anything. Whether helping family, friends, or neighbors, Niles was always ready to share his time, knowledge, and talents. His generosity and dedication left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, one of his favorite pastimes. Niles cherished time spent with family and friends, creating countless memories that will be treasured for years to come. His kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved made him a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration to many.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany, MS

Niles leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss him, his son, Niles William “Billy” Conklin Jr.; several stepdaughters, Jessica Garner,Connie Smith, Lynette Huckaby, Cheryl Swann, and Terri Price; his brothers, Jimmy Conklin and wife, Chris, and Kenny ,Conklin; his sisters, Betty Lou Ditzer and Vickie Biverf; several cherished grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Niles was preceded in death by his wife Delores “Lynn” Conklin, his parents, James Conklin and Charlotte Conklin and stepdaughter Tina Crouch.

Niles will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, love of family, and faithful service to his country. His legacy of hard work, compassion, friendship, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
