Lynn White Dowdy, 82, left to be with the Lord on Friday, April 6, 2018, from North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. Dowdy was born in Pontotoc County on January 4, 1936, the son of William E. "Bud" and Linda White Dowdy. He was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church, a retired truck driver, and a veteran of the United States Army. Lynn enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and helping others. He was a life-time member of the NRA, was a fire arms enthusiast, and was an honorary member of the Pontotoc VFW. Survivors include, his daughter, Becky Dowdy Bramlett (Dennis) of Ecru; two sons, Ronny Dowdy of Coffeeville, and Richard Dowdy (Brenda) of Ecru; his ex-wife and friend, Pat Dowdy of Friendship; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life service will be Monday at 2 P. M. at Buchanan Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 P. M. until 8 P. M. at the church. Brother Jerry Grammer, Brother Josh Westmoreland, and Brother David Westmoreland will officiate. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Samuel and Stephen Dowdy, Jeremy Bailey, John David Kenney, Jr., and Alisa Dowdy. Honorary pallbearers are Lannie Dowdy and Brad Bogue.
