Jimmy Loyd Bennett

Jimmy Loyd Bennett, 83, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Magnolia Place of New Albany. He was born in Grenada County, Mississippi, on January 6, 1939, the son of Frank Leslie and Mary Lena Costilow Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a sheet rock hanger during his working career in the Memphis area. He moved to the New Albany area approximately ten years ago. His wife, Bea, preceded him in death on December 20, 2020. Mr. Bennett was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include, one son, Jerry Loyd Bennett, of New Albany; one daughter, Gail Baird, and husband, Billy, of Collierville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, David Baird, Kerry Baird, Chad Bennett, and Jonathan Baird; and three great-grandchildren, Jamie, Ruth, and Emily Baird, with one great grandchild on the way. Mr. Bennett's funeral service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10:00 A. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home. Brother Gary Yates will officiate and active pallbearers will be Pete Chunn, Bubba Dyer, Billy Roberts, and Bill Hilliard. Burial will follow in Glenfield Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 A. M. until 10:00 A. M. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
