James Kenneth Smithey, 70, died Monday at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born February 13, 1952, in New Albany, the son of Boyce and Rebecca Smith Smithey. James was self employed as a vinyl siding dealer and installation. He was a Baptist, enjoyed playing guitar, doing carpentry work, spending time with his grandchildren, and loved giving his brother, Jerry, a hard time, haha. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Angie Smithey of New Albany; two sons, James Kenneth Smithey, Jr. of New Albany and Kris Cable (Hope) of Ingomar; two daughters, Tessa Smithey of Clearwater, Florida and Noel Smithey Thomas (Kenneth) of New Albany; brother, Jerry Smithey, of Aurora, Illinois; one sister, Doris Shipley of Alabama; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Smithey and Gene Smithey; and one sister, Barbara Smithey. Services will be on Saturday, at 2:00 P. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home, with Brother James Steele, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenfield Memorial Park. Pallbearers are James Smithey, Kris Cable, Kevin Merritt, Kenneth Thomas, Brandon Hall, and Rick Smithey. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.
