Elbert Lamar Horton

January 11, 1939 — February 10, 2020

Brother Elbert Lamar Horton, 81, died at his residence on Monday, February 10, 2020.  He was born in Union County, Mississippi, on January 11, 1939, the son of Arthur Lee Horton and Annie Mae Hale Horton.  Brother Elbert had been a carpenter all his working life and a pastor.  He was a member of West Tallahatchie Baptist Church and his hobbies included wood working, hunting, and fishing.   Survivors include his wife, Lynette Horton of Myrtle; daughters, Ruby Akin (Perry) of Tipplersville, Bobbie Taylor (Jeff) of Thaxton, Robbie Spears (Calvin) of Ripley, and Diane Hancock (Bill) of Ripley; sisters, Bessie Mae Rowland of Batesville and Dorothy Lee Miller of Dumas; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; five children; a brother, Arthur Lee Horton, Jr.; and sisters, Carolyn Butler, Frances Janette Killough; and Annie Ruth Knight.   Brother David Bishop will officiate the funeral service.  Pallbearers will be Richard Horton, D. J. Greer, Wayne Robinson, Christy Baker, Sandy Russo, Wayne Hulsey, and Brother Johnny Perkins.  Burial will be in Faith In Christ Cemetery.
