Annie Elizabeth Staten

Annie Elizabeth Mescal Staten, 85, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  She was born July 30, 1932, in Union County, Mississippi, the daughter of William Presley and Effie May Shelton Jones. Mrs. Staten was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at Cotton Plant and was overseer of the church cemetery.  She worked for years as a receptionist at Rogers Insurance Agency.  Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, James Lee Staten of New Albany; two sons, Larry Staten and Jim Staten (Laura) all of New Albany; a grandson, Shane Staten of New Albany; granddaughters, Helen Staten of Cleveland, Jessye Barnett of Corinth, and Lori Able of Ecru; and one great grandchild, Connor Staten.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 2 P. M.,  at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church with Reverend Bill Everett and Reverend Randy Kolb, officiating, with burial following in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday from 12 P. M. until 2 P. M.  Pallbearers will be Brad Prewett, Josh Wagner, Edwin Dees, Keith Wright, Melvin Harrington, and Shane Staten.
